Why?

Lately, I have come to realize the question asked to me by many people.

"Barbara, why on earth do you do what you do in a business that you really do not need to do?"  Well, explanation of this is simple.

I love gospel music.  I am what I am, and do not expect to change.  I love to sing and also to help people who can sing well and have little experience with getting known and all of the things you need to do as an artists to get that name out there.  I believe, "it is not all about what I can do for me. but how much help can I give to others who love to do the same thing, "Carry" the message of Jesus in music.  I still sing...a lot!  My daughter and I sing every Week and enjoy doing it wherever the doors open...right now, God has us working alongside my husband in a Pastoral work that is like none that we have ever done before.  I simply can't stop that!  There is much joy in ministering in a community and not being a "Star."  I don't have to be...but I do enjoy getting out and doing concerts, revivals, etc.

God has placed a desire on my life, or call, etc to help struggling artists in the business/ministry as much as I can.  I do know people, I know how to help others and that is the main goal.  I realize that some do not understand all of this...that is fine, you don't have to understand.

Some say.."You are giving all of your income to producers, etc."  Well, if I agree to work for an amount, it doesn't matter what the producer makes, does it?  I have already agreed...and if I had the name of some of the producers, I could make just as much money.  MONEY...is not the answer to everything, LOL, it just helps.

The best policy has and always will be HONESTY..you can not get away with out it.  God will prosper you in ways you never thought of.  I don't have the best, I don't need the best, and You can't use me if I don't allow you to do so!  Lots to think about!  If I gain help from someone being able to use ME, and they gain help or not, I have done what needs to be done!

Now let me remind you that nothing in this life as I know it comes for free, or success does not come overnight. But, doing things the WRONG WAY WITH WRONG INTENTIONS will end up NOWHERE FAST.Be honest, don't try to get everything for nothing and focus on the main goal...  hang in there.  Do what you need to do...and call me.  I will do my best to conduct myself in a Godly manner and do what is right.  Not everyone will be happy, but if I know I have done the right thing, that is mighty fine with me.

JMA Welcomes Mattie Jones!

JMA welcomes "Mattie Jones" as an artist to our promotions company.  Mattie has been in southern gospel music for many years.  She is now working as a solo artist.  You may contact our agency for more information.  Mattie sings from the heart with true worship, exalting Jesus Christ for who He is and all that He has done for us.

You will enjoy Mattie singing the song "Look For Me."  As she sings this song, she normally looks at her husband, Robert, of (too many years to tell) lol with tears in her eyes.  I too can identify with that.  Jerry and I sing "I Want to Stroll Over Heaven" and it is just a normal thing to take each other's hand and sing it together!

Mattie...welcome to the JMA family!
                                                              Mattie Jones

News Update

I have talked to several of our artists this week.  We are all looking forward to Fan Fare and all of the events for this year.

Please remember to tell your friends about JMA and have them to sign up as followers!  We want to make this a place for promotion of all of our artists!  Beginning with March, the charts posted on here will be from comments from followers...telling us they're favorite group, and song...as well as the points from charting.  You do not have to have a chart song to be in JMA Charts...but the chart songs in various magazines will be included in our charting system.

Thanks,
Barbara

Radio!

Today, it's all about Radio Air Play!

For the past four years or so, I have been involved in radio promotions.  It has been great and I have learned the business.

We are very proud of our artists for the air play they have recieve, and for those who are currently in the Charts.  Joan Gregory, Still Water, and The Blackwood Singers...RW, Donna, and Andrea Blackwood.

Let me say to you, while radio charting is good.....it is about getting air play that counts.  Be blessed when your promoter tells you that you are getting good play whether you chart, or not.

Years ago, I do not remember a charting system!  There was nothing like that and folks just listened to the music, played what the people requested and we all received blessings from that.  Ha..I never knew if people were playing my songs or not!  Just when we would sing, they would love it and so I felt like someone must have been to a concert.

"Let us not grow weary, for in due season we shall reap....if we faint not." BIBLE  If you don't know where that one is, look it up...tell you next time.  YES, I do know where it is.  The point is, we should be happy to sing where the door opens, use the promoters to help get air play, and rejoice even if you are not in the charts.

You may send me a note on here to vote for your Feb favorite songs and the artist who has recorded...that plus the radio air play report will help me to post the top 10 each month.

Be blessed,
Barbara
